Emotions always have their roots in the unconscious and manifest themselves in the body.
Irene Claremont de Castillejo

From our earliest childhood, we go through countless emotions. Sometimes however, these emotions cannot flow through the body and blockages occur.
If an animal suffers trauma, it literally shakes it off which helps the animal discharge the energy of the traumatic event.
Perhaps you've heard the term "shaking like a leaf"? It describes a reaction to a frightening situation.
The shaking or trembling that emanates from the limbic brain (the part of the brain responsible for emotions) signals that the danger is over and the fight-or-flight system can be shut down. This literally ends the nervous system's response to release the traumatic experience from the body.
While animals often die if they are unable to shake off the trauma, in humans it can develop into a mental or physical illness.
People can also shake off traumatic experiences. However, it becomes problematic when the nervous system is prevented from carrying out its natural, survival-based response. This happens when, for example, one is held against one's will, frozen in shock or sedated by the administration of medication.
In these cases, what is experienced can be stored in the body, leading to mental or physical illness or both. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can also be a consequence.
Deep conscious breathing techniques and ice bathing can not only help us access and release these deep-rooted unprocessed blockages, but also teach us how to deal with difficult or traumatizing situations in everyday life more and more effectively.
You now ask yourself why it then doesn't work just like this? The difference is that with these methods we work on completely different levels of our consciousness!

Did you know that illnesses and pain can be caused by emotions of the past?
Deeply rooted traumas, damaging beliefs, emotional and physical blocks, insomnia, overconsumption, addiction, stress, and disease can be consequences of unprocessed or suppressed emotions.
Breath-
work
Breathwork

Most of the time you don't even notice that you are breathing, because breathing is a reflex. Yet it is the first thing we do when we are born and the last thing we do before we die! Breath is life and yet we take it for granted.
If we breathe incorrectly, we put our body under stress and this often without even being aware of it!
Breathwork is the conscious use of breathing as a healing tool to strengthen physical and mental health.
Therefore with proper breathing we can influence our mental and physical performance, our digestion, regeneration, hormones and posture. In addition, our nose hairs filter the air so that pollutants cannot enter the body.
The term "Breathwork" refers to all conscious types of breathing techniques or exercises, including mindful breathing, Yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong.
They are often used as method to balance and rebalance the body, mind and spirit. The breath can also be seen as a link between the physical body and the subconscious mind.
A variety of ancient traditions have been engaged with the power of breath and have developed their own techniques and exercises. Generally, however, "breathwork" refers to a specific practice of the Conscious Connected Breathing (Conscious Connected Breathwork),
Whether you dissolve fears with breathwork, strengthen your life energy with pranayama (yoga breath) or integrate classic breathing exercises to reduce stress into your everyday life: consciously working with your breath is as old as humanity and definitely makes you more aware, healthier, more efficient and can prolong your life.

Why Breathwork
„Feel it, till you heal it!“
Trauma is stored in the body in the form of physical tensions, emotional imprints and disturbed patterns in the nervous system.
When we experience a traumatic event that we cannot "shake off", the body remains in "fight-or-flight" mode. This means not only continuous stress on a physical level but also changes our chemical reactions in the brain and the hormone balance,
Permanent stress and a blocked energy flow can thus lead to serious illnesses in the long term.

Breathwork and therapheutic touch help release tension and blockages by allowing the trauma stored in the body to be explored and processed in a safe and controlled way, thereby closing the cycle of trauma.
Trauma leads to chronic muscle tension in various parts of the body. When the body is in a constant state of tension, it leads to physical discomfort and chronic pain.
A deep, rhythmic breath helps relax tense muscles. When we focus on our breath, we become more aware of these areas of tension in the body. By consciously directing the breath into these areas and then exhaling completely, we release stored tension.
Therapeutic touch can specifically assist in releasing these blockages.
Traumatic experiences generate intense emotions that are often suppressed or repressed from consciousness. These unprocessed emotions contribute to feelings of anxiety, depression, or numbness (emotionlessly).
Conscious connected breathing supports the release of these emotional blocks. When we breathe deeply and continuously, we access and express repressed emotions. This leads to cathartic experiences where we can release feelings, which in turn enables emotional healing.
Trauma disrupts the autonomic nervous system, resulting in an overactive fight-or-flight response or shutdown reaction. This dysregulation can lead to chronic stress, anxiety, or dissociation.
Our nervous system is the command center of our body.
It controls almost everything we do, think, say or feel.
It affects every aspect of our health, thoughts, feelings, movements, senses, sleep, healing, aging, heartbeat, breathing patterns, response to stressful situations, digestion, feelings of hunger-, thirst, and bodily processes.
Breathwork helps regulate the central nervous system.

Ice bathing
Why Ice bathing

"The cold is the absolute gateway to the soul." (Wim Hof)
Wim Hof & Co, all just hype?
Before we look at the physical health aspects of cold exposure, let's look at the mental and psychological levels first!
The Ice bath is an incredible teacher!
When we consciously expose ourselves to the cold, we train ourselves to deal with fear, resistance, discomfort, pain, stress, emotions, and trauma, and this can help us get to know ourselves better and overcome limiting beliefs and stories.
We consciously choose to let our body go into such a stressful situation where it switches into absolute survival mode, and then we stay in it and not only endure it but feel it consciously!
In doing so, we actually create new neural connections in the brain that help us better deal with stress and resistance in everyday life.
When entering freezing water, the body's natural reaction is to panic, our body goes into survival mode and our sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight) is highly activated. One of the neurological things that happens is that the activity in the prefrontal cortex, the part of our brain responsible for thinking, shuts down in response to the cold and the energy drain.
We have to concentrate hard and cannot distract ourselves as we often do when we are exposed to unwanted emotions. Together with the appropriate breathing, this keeps us in the here and now - meditation has never been easier!
Benefits: What's in it for me?
